bones: confusion neutralized? [spoiler spec!]

Duh.

Duh, duh, duh.

News broke yesterday that there may be wedding bells coming for somebody on Bones, and I think I’ve figured out who it could be.  That speculation–along with my brilliant reasons why–is after the jump.

First of all, I know I can’t possibly be the first person to come up with this idea, especially considering how obvious it is.  Forgive me if you’ve already come to this conclusion–and please share your further (and probably even more brilliant) speculation on the subject in the comments.

It’s gotta be Jared.

We know that in “The Dentist in the Ditch,” Booth’s younger brother returns from India with a new ladyfriend on his arm and some news to share with Booth–news that Booth doesn’t seem too happy to hear.  It’s long been speculated that this was news of an elopement or engagement, so I’m not sure why it took me so long to piece this together with the news that somebody’s wedding will punctuate the end of season five.

So what does this mean for Booth and Brennan? And how could this connect to that mysterious news going around that Booth and Brennan’s relationship will change for the better–without involving sex or the promise of it–in the 100th episode, airing in early April?

Here’s my idea.

Focus it around Booth’s brain.  Do this because continuity is your friend, and, as this is the storyline that jumpstarted season five, it’d be a nice bookend to ride out the rest of the year.

The 100th is all about Booth and Brennan taking a trip down memory lane, right?  So LOGICALLY, doesn’t it stand to reason that if Booth can remember how she made him feel on day one (read: incredibly frustrated, painfully intrigued, and hella turned on) and compare it to how she makes him feel now (read: all of those same things), doesn’t that negate Sweets’s theory that Booth only loves Brennan because of the coma dream?

This could really give Booth some serious thinking to do, as well as the promise that, quite literally, it’s not just all in his head.

So imagine they end the 100th with a confession–he’s got a yearly check-up in May, and after that, he may have some news for her.  And now we have a deadline.

The finale rolls around, it’s Jared’s wedding.  Booth goes to his check-up while Brennan does something else–who knows, it could even be case-related.  They meet up again, Booth’s seen his scans, and they’re still totally indicating that he’s in love.  Because, hello?  He is.  So he’s off to his brother’s wedding, for the first time, totally confident of his love in Brennan.  And she basically knows.  Whether or not they kiss at the wedding is anyone’s guess, because they could make the moment as small as a slow dance or as big as sex in the car after Brennan catches the bouquet, and it would all still mean the same thing–they both know.

Anyway, just a little speculation based on what we know now.  Thoughts?
