bones: new year, new spoilery snippets!
It’s going to be a big spring for Bones. With books being published, important events to attend, and the big 100 looming, there’s a lot to look forward to as we move into the back half of season five. Plus, there’s always the possibility that the season will end with Booth and Brennan admitting their love for each other, eloping, and start trying to have a baby. Under the cut are the spoilery goods on the horizon.
An episode we know almost nothing about. “The Proof in the Pudding,” airing January 21, involves a Jeffersonian lockdown–and the details are under lockdown, too. Only one casting side went out, and even that was only, like, a page and a half. The synopsis says that government agents put the squints under lockdown at the lab to solve a murder, and Booth has to break into the lab to help. We think this episode is the Kennedy-Assassination-reminiscent one, but we’re not going to be sure until we actually see it.
The arrival of Brennan’s latest novel. “The Bones on the Blue Line” involves the publication of Brennan’s latest crime novel–including the much-anticipated Page 147. Apparently, Bones’s new book involves a lot more romance (and sex) than her previous offerings, which is making the books more profitable. Brennan wants to give Angela the credit for this development–everyone else knows it’s Booth she has to thank. Will we get any indication that some of Mr. B and Bren’s life seeps into this novel? Will Page 147 contain the line, “Do you want me to prove it to you?” Will Brennan confess that Andy is at least in some part based on her own FBI partner?
The arrival of Sweets’s own book. The 100th episode, as yet untitled but with sides due probably this week, focuses on Booth and Brennan telling the story of their first case together–framed around setting the record straight as Sweets’s book heads to the presses. We know that Sweets has resisted publishing for a while because, as Gordon Gordon explained, the book concludes that Booth and Brennan are in love with each other. PREDICTION TIME. Booth and Brennan, having read an advanced copy, will spend the 100th episode explaining how, no, their relationship hasn’t always been easy–just look at the first time we met. We hated each other. Also, Sweets, you know how you say in here that we’ve never acted on our attraction to each other? Well, um, there was that one time that we made out. Yeah, during the first case. And, see! We’re totally not in love with each other. And then Sweets will be, like, “Actually, guys, you totally are.” They’ve got to bring out the big guns for the 100th, and it seems like they will.
Brennan’s high school reunion. Murder’s afoot at Bones’s high school reunion. I’d assume she’s probably not too keen on revisiting her high school years, but hell if that’s not every awkward girl’s fantasy–showing up at your reunion with a novel on the New York Times bestseller’s list and David Boreanaz on your arm. (Oh, you KNOW Booth is going with her.) Plus, she’ll solve a crime while there. Win win.
A mysterious potential field trip. Hart cryptically tweeted that they were trying to work out a little “field trip” for the 100th. Now, frankly, I can’t imagine anywhere that would merit a field trip besides Washington, D.C., which happens to be, um, WHERE I LIVE. And that’d be a boon for everyone, because you know you want stalker pictures and you know I’d take them.
And, finally, as always, David Boreanaz’s incredible acting abilities:

Hear hear!
It’s been such a long, sad month since Bones was last on. I can’t wait for the new episodes the start up this week! Seriously, big things better start happening for our Brennan and Booth bc the well has been pretty dry so far this season. I mean, yes, little snips here and there of fangirl squeeeeedom but I need more. I’m definitely liking the sound of what’s to come, especially the high school reunion episode and the release of Brennan’s book. Excellent post, Allie!
