glee: two words. idina. menzel.
I love how in Glee world, Idina Menzel is a Big Get. She guest-starred on Private Practice last season with barely a hiccup of notice, but it’s serious news if she might bring her pipes to Glee.
The somewhat disappointing part is that Idina’s apparently in talks to play the director of Vocal Adrenaline, New Directions’s biggest rival, and not Rachel Berry’s bio-mom. While this probably means she’ll have more opportunities to interact with the whole cast and, more importantly, to sing, it is a little frustrating that the writers can’t just take a piece of fandom advice for once.
Can’t she be the faculty advisor for Vocal Adrenaline AND Rachel’s mom? How’s THAT for a plot point? Torn between her loyalty toward her team and her fledgling relationship with her long-lost mother, Rachel must …
You get the idea.
Perhaps most importantly, I would not at all be surprised to find Idina introduced as a love interest for Mr. Schuester. Torn between his loyalty toward his team and his fledgling relationship with their archrival’s choir director, Will must …
You get the idea.
And while this possibility is a bummer for Will and Emma, whose relationship is so fresh and so new, I (A) am completely confident that they’ll figure it out in the end and (B) kind of like the idea of Matthew Morrison and Idina Menzel hooking up.
It’d be like a Broadway miracle.
