bones: new sides are religiocious [good news for b&b]
New casting sides are out for Bones‘s “The Devil in the Details,” episode fourteen of season five. Spoilers and speculation are after the jump.
So basically the victim looks like a devil, complete with horns and a tail. We learn later that he wasn’t really a devil (or the devil), but rather a troubled kid whose parents couldn’t afford to have his tail deformity removed as a baby. Of course, though, we don’t really give a crap about the case, no matter how freakyweird it sounds.
Booth and Brennan’s B-story sounds like it’ll be about religion. As they arrive at the crime scene (oh, yeah, the devilish victim was killed in a church), Booth gives Brennan tips on how to be respectful:
Booth: “All right, rule number one, don’t say anything plasphemous in the church. I don’t want to get struck with ligtning just because I’m standing next to you.”
Brennan: “If you believe that God is omnipotent, I find it interesting you also believe He’s a bad masksman.”
Booth: “When you get mad anyone can lose their focus.”
Hee.
And then the end scene of fluff, which takes place at the diner at night, starts with this exchange:
Brennan: “I need to ask you some things.”
Booth: “Is it about God and the Devil?”
Brennan: “Yes.”
That’s all we have, but my speculation is that she’s going to ask him if he thinks she, as a nonbeliever, is going to go to Hell.
And Booth, of course, will have to tell her that of course she’s not going to Hell, because it matters more if you’re a good person blah blah blah, and she’s the best person he knows blah blah blah. It’s important because it shows that even if Brennan doesn’t believe in Heaven or Hell, she knows Booth does, and it means something to her to know what he thinks about her chances of going either direction. (Bonus points if Booth talks about them hanging out in Heaven for eternity, even if I would majorly roll my eyes at that cheese.)
Another part about this episode is that while Booth and Brennan are investigating at a mental institution, she gets to talking with a doctor fellow there named Phillip who speaks her language and charms her. Apparently he’s undercover at the hospital as a patient, so after sweet-talking Brennan into a walk around the grounds, he’s taken away from her by a meds-dispensing orderly. (Brennan is very confused, and no doubt questions her taste in men, which is very, very bad, except when it is very, very good.) It’s revealed later that he’s a psychiatrist in good standing (and not crazy); we’re left to wonder if his flirtation with Brennan will go any further.
As if Brennan would ever hook up with a psychiatrist. Pshaw.

I knew I wouldn’t have to read the sides and you’d tell me everything I needed to know!
