glee: road to sectionals … what will their lineup look like?
As Glee gets closer and closer to Sectionals–episode thirteen is called, well, “Sectionals”–we have to start wondering what their set list is going to look like.
As far as the theoretical parameters of Sectionals, we know they must perform a ballad, that they’re interested in performing a number in wheelchairs, and that the judges are swayed by standards. I hope they revisit some of the songs from the first twelve episodes; not only does this make sense seeing as how they’ve supposedly been practicing, but it will also bring a nice poignancy of the “look how far we’ve come” variety.
Some numbers, we know, are out of the question, specifically the ones performed outside of the context of Glee–much as I adored Will’s version of “The Thong Song,” it’s not going to be on the Sectionals playlist. (Ditto songs like “Maybe This Time,” last night’s “Crush,” and the Will-led “Bust a Move.”)
So what does that leave us? For starters, all of the big numbers from the whole team. If I was Mr. Shoe, I’d be fine-tuning these numbers:
- “Keep Holding On”
- “Somebody to Love”
- “Lean on Me”
- “Proud Mary”
They said they wanted a Broadway song and/or a standard, so it might make sense for Rachel’s “Defying Gravity” to make it in there.
They worked on mash-ups for an awful long while for one not to be included in the Sectionals set list. My vote would be for “Halo/Walking on Sunshine,” but I know a lot of people’s loyalty lies with the boys’ “It’s My Life/Confessions, Part II.”
And, of course, you know they have to seal the deal with “Don’t Stop Believin’.” You know that, right? RIGHT, SHOW?
