lost & the olympics: [insert polar bear joke here]

who's complaining? // abc promotional photo
Word on the street is that Lost may be forced to take a break in February for the Olympics. Many people are really upset about it, and my Google Alerts for the show have included such words as “ruined” and “disaster.”
To everyone whining about this, I’d just like to say calm the hell down.
This is so not a big deal.
For starters, it’s only a two-, maybe three-week break. The problem with the reruns in the early seasons was that they would come around at random times, last for unpredictable amounts of time, and often be supplemented with repeats during off-weeks. These factors created significant amounts of confusion, and rightfully so.
A short, one-time break for the OLYMPICS is so not a big deal.
I understand that some people aren’t as filled with Olympic fever as I am, but I’m glad I’ll be able to focus all of my attention on speed skating, figure skating, skiing, and the awesomeness that is curling. Can you imagine what would have happened if Lost had been on at the same time as a Michael Phelps race? Hell, even I would have had trouble deciding what to watch.
There are eighteen episodes in Lost’s final season, and I’m confident we’ll see all eighteen.
